Bell pepper rootstocks with multiple resistance to soilborne diseases

چکیده
Grafting has been increasingly used to overcome soilborne pathogens. The commercial rootstock hybrids AF-8253 (Sakata) and Fortaleza (Takii), as well Embrapa’s new hybrid, BRS Acará, were evaluated rootstocks for the bell pepper Margarita (Syngenta) Pampa (Clause) scions, under natural infestation of Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum, upon artificial inoculation with a) ten isolates, b) one Phytophthora capsici isolate, c) Meloidogyne incognita race 1, d) enterolobii (only c d). Grafted peppers consistently showcased a higher productivity than did non-grafted ones R. pseudosolanacearum infestation, genotype affected fruit size distribution. Rootstocks presented resistance (scions) 6 out 10 isolates. Acará displayed an immune-like response P. capsici, while was moderately resistant (25% symptomatic plants) susceptible (100% plants). immune M. but slightly (AF-8253 Acará) or (Fortaleza) enterolobii. Fortaleza, is recommended managing bacterial wilt, blight, root-knot nematodes.

Soilborne Diseases of Peanut
The agents (pathogens) that cause soilborne diseases of peanut are various fungi and nematodes that survive in the soil and infect one or more parts of the plant at or below the soil surface. Soilborne diseases can severely limit peanut yields in Oklahoma, particularly in fields where long rotations with nonhost crops are not practiced. Southern blight and Sclerotinia blight are probably the mo...
متن کاملHot Pepper Reaction to Field Diseases
Diseases are major constraints to hot pepper (Capsicum annum L.) production in sub-Saharan Africa. The search for cultivars resistant to the major diseases of hot pepper has been limited. This study was conducted in Uganda to evaluate exotic and local hot pepper genotypes for disease resistance. Viral diseases and Cercospora leaf spot were the most predominant and severe, followed in descending...
متن کاملNew Crop Opportunities Center Bell and Specialty Pepper Evaluations for Bacterial Spot Resistance , Yield , and Quality
After completing a three-year (1995-97) evaluation of bell pepper cultivars under induced bacterial spot (Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria or Xcv) and bacterial spot-free environments, we began a new series of trials in 2000 to compare new cultivars with previously recommended cultivars that were either highly resistant (‘Boynton Bell’) and/or that had very attractive fruits (‘X3R Wizard’...
متن کاملResponse of Resistant and Susceptible Bell Pepper (Capsicum annuum) to a Southern California Meloidogyne incognita Population from a Commercial Bell Pepper Field.
To determine the presence and level of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne spp.) infestation in Southern California bell pepper (Capsicum annuum) fields, soil and root samples were collected in April and May 2012 and analyzed for the presence of root-knot nematodes. The earlier samples were virtually free of root-knot nematodes, but the later samples all contained, sometimes very high numbers, of r...
متن کاملPredicting Harvest Labour Allocation in Bell Pepper Production
In the production of tomatoes in greenhouses, a more or less constant number of tomatoes are ready for picking at each harvest time. In the production of bell peppers, however, large fluctuations exist in number of fruits ready to pick. This major problem in bell pepper production is called ‘flushing’: weeks with high yields are alternated by weeks with low yield. This irregular harvest pattern...
